Between 2004 and 2009, the Institute launched and conducted, or participated as a partner, in the following large-scale research projects:

National Foresight Programme – Implementation of the Results

In October 2011, the EEDRI Institute joined another large project implemented at the request of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education: National Foresight Programme - Implementation of the Results, which represents another stage of the operations started under the National Foresight Programme – Poland 2020.
The result of the research delivered between 2006 and 2008 included recommendations concerning shaping of the scientific and innovative policy towards the Knowledge-based Economy, and presenting the directions of the research into scientific development and technology. They indicate that Poland holds a significant intellectual and development-based potential, which is however characterised by very strong dispersion that translates into low competitiveness of the national scientific and research centres. Transformations that occur in this context, aim at “concentrating forces” on scientific research in these fields and disciplines that may significantly impact fast civilisation-economic development of the country and development of the knowledge-based economy.  Identification of the key areas of the most promising sectors of applied sciences and techniques which require support remains an important issue.
Selecting the key directions of the scientific research and development work will facilitate a better use of the research results in practice, and easier obtaining of funds, including the non-budgetary finance. The foresight studies performed within a broad spectrum of the scientific fields and areas of economic activity should play a special role in this process. Identifying these areas in which Poland is a natural leader, in combination with the need for selective support to the most promising sectors of the applied sciences and techniques, will be the key objective and subject of the work implemented under this project. Development of tools and implementation of the process of cyclical evaluation of the scientific and technological potential as well as shaping the scientific and scientific-technological policy achieved through practical implementation of the  evidence – based policy idea is the general objective of this project. Sustainable linkage between the decision-making process and operations of the portal implementing the foresight projects, including the NFP, and use of the national relevant outputs, represents the specific goal.
In order to achieve these objectives and goals, it is necessary to develop, and then implement, a package of tools facilitating effective planning of strategic directions of the scientific research and technologies, and technological directions identified with an aid of a system of maps and results of the foresight projects. The developed methodological tools and mathematical-statistical-econometric model will facilitate cyclical diagnosis of the national scientific and technological potential, and developing such scientific and scientific-technological polity that would address contemporary challenges of the research market (European Research Area) and globalisation processes. Under the project, the basis of the national monitoring system of implementation of the results of foresight projects, which will also address indicators measuring the degree of achievement of the NFP objectives, will be elaborated. Project is implemented between 1.10.2011 and 2015 by a Consortium composed of: the Central Mining Institute (Coordinator), Social Academy of Sciences ( Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Research Institute - EEDRI), Technical University of Białystok.

Strengthen the capacity of vocational schools. Staff for the innovative development of the Lodz Region

44 vocational schools delivering business and commercial profile of training, with almost 1400 students, operate in Łódzkie Voivodship, however studies indicate that only half of their graduates pass professional examinations, which may imply a low level of teaching.
At the same time, both owners of Łódź companies and managers of international corporations having their branches in Łódzkie Voivodship speak of HR problems in the field of hiring professionals with appropriate vocational background.
The objective of this research project involved improvement of potential of the vocational schools (both basic vocational schools as well as secondary ones) specialising in business and commercial profiles of training through identifying these activities that will lead to matching the school curriculum with the real needs of the labour market.
